Hello everyone, its time to heat this forum once again. Merzbow has just released Kamadhenu and album that i previously thought was Merzcow because it was released on the same label that was going to release Merzbow. I wasnt so far fetched. Turns out that Merzbow is a trilogy and this one is the first volume. Track Listing 1- Kamadhenu (Part 1) - 21:55 2- Kamadhenu (Part 2) - 18:42 3- Churning Of The Cosmic Milk Ocean - 17:11 Also, the album limited to 300 copies and comes in digipack. I would link a site to buy it but i just found the info on discogs. Nothing else. Go and buy it ppl

Has anyone else heard this. I've listened to it through six times now - still not sure what I think.

I just grabbed it, but I haven't gotten to it. I'll give my verdict after a couple of listens.

Ok, upon my first listen, my overall impression is not excellent.
I'm not so sure I enjoy the squealy sound in Kamadhenu, which leads much of both parts. The sort of ambient pulse and drone which backs mostly the first part has potential, but I don't feel it quite does it for me either. Not terribly dynamic (or as dynamic as I would like, these tracks ask you to get into trance to them, and I couldn't do it. More does start to happen in the second part of Kamadhenu, but it still doesn't grip me.
Churning the Cosmic Milk Ocean doesn't do it for me either. All around, I don't enjoy Kamadhenu too much.

Maybe you should wait for the rest of the trilogy.
But on a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate it?

1 to 10... Probably a 4. Far from a favorite. I'll probably give it another listen at some point though. I have to be in the right state of mind for different Merzbow albums, so one listen rarely gives me an accurate sense of how much I enjoy a particular album.

I actually really like the way Kamadhenu sounds, that deep bassy fuzz really does it for me, i do find the first 2 tracks get a bit monotonous though, that squealing starts to sound like a crying baby after about 20 minutes of it... I'm looking forward to hearing how the next 2 volumes sound

I mailed Hypnagogia again to check on the status on the final volume of the Mercow trilogy and he replied that there is a posibility that Goloka might be released on summer 2012 but it all depends on the funds.
I guess we need to show a little bit more of support for the series if we want to see it finished.

kamadhenu part 1 is one of my favorite merz pieces. it was one of the first things i heard from him too so special memories. the other 2 tracks... eh.
surabhi, however, is a masterpiece. i never tire of that album, it has a very spacey quality. it's perfect. it was the first album i put on when i returned home after a brief experience of complete homelessness and living in a graveyard. i was in a very depersonalized state and the music just fit the mood so well. i felt reborn by the end.

kamadhenu is a favourite of mine too, i think that's when i first really started to get interested in collecting his cds. doesnt seem to be any progress with goloka though... i dont know if that'll see the light of day or not.

I'm not entirely sure what the material on samidara is from, its on a 12" though which seems odd, from what I see of their other stuff its big collections of CDRs and things, very much a DIY kind of affair. I've been following those guys on Facebook since they announced it which was some time ago now. As far as I know its not the follow up to surahbi, but I could be wrong.

Im 60% sure i remember well the planned title of the third part was been Samidara, but may I switch it with his art-performance from Berlin, then its could be thats recording.
I just would like to say if my memory is OK and Samidara was the third title (and Masami didnt play with the words as at Flax transformed into Dead Zone) may the Merzcow will be finished without Hypnagogia. Thats all.

i try to mail each respective label in regards to Merzbow releases. From my last talk with Hypnagogia it seemed that they wanted to release the final album this past summer but they had yet to see much of a return in the investment from the previous two albums and because of that they cant invest on the third one. This was a while ago, like half a year ago (possibly) so if you all want i can mail him again and ask what are their future plans.
As for Samidara, that is a different release from a different label. No connection with our cow trilogy.

that would be cool to hear from him, I suspected it might be due to the sales of the first 2, there's only 300 of them and they're not exactly hard to track down

i know it's just a name but i always thought it was cool for merz to be on the hypnagogia label. the hypnagogic state is basically what one would enter listening to merzbow, relaxed with closed eyes, after some time passes. the music takes on a more synesthetic quality there.
