I think Indigo Dada is the only other new recording they've put out? But it's a nice idea, if once they get up to date on all the archival stuff we get boxsets of entirely new albums. Here's hoping!

There were Suzumeiro parts 1 and 2 after that as well, plus a live collaboration. I'm just speculating here, but the idea of a load of new albums is a nice thought isn't it!

^Thanks for that. There's such an overwhelming amount of these Slowdown releases I completely missed those!

If anyone is interested in the Merzbow SLOWDOWN releases but would prefer a less expensive alternative to import shipping, Slowdown has begun releasing digital download versions (and streaming) on Bandcamp:
slowdown-merzbow.bandcamp.com/
There is a limited selection at the moment, but I would assume they will add more.
Digital albums: $9 USD, in MP3, FLAC and more.
For comparison, the physical CDs are generally available at ~$21 USD each + shipping, or in boxes of 6 for $61 + shipping.
Legal Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Slowdown or Bandcamp in any way.

I look forward to listening to those Slowdown releases on Bandcamp, even if not all tracks will be available to listen to for free (as is the case now).
For those in Europe, Soundohm is offering both formats of the reissue of ‘Door Open at 8 AM’ for preorder. In the end, I decided not to order the tape as it’s just too expensive even without shipping. I hope eventually there will be a moderately priced CD edition too.

The 'Kazakiribane' tape on Dinzu Artefects is out now - however, am I going insane, or is there now way to buy this tape on its own? It only seems to be available as part of a pack with two ambient cassettes I have no interest in...or am I missing a link somewhere? www.dinzuartefacts.com/

I've already sent the label a message trying to figure this out. Hoping the individual tapes will be put onto their bandcamp page (they are not there right now). if I hear back from the label I will post it here.

That seems very strange... I can't seem to find any other info on it either. The tapes are listed individually on bandcamp, although the Merzbow one hasn't made its way there yet, they all appear to be sold out though, I wonder just how limited each run of tapes is

Heard back from label - "Tapes are always sold as a batch initially. Any remaining individual copies will go on Bandcamp at some point later on."

Merzbow tape is now added to their bandcamp but it's sold out. What a crappy label. There are some distributors in Japan so will they are going to stock it.

And this was after they posted this on Twitter a few days ago: "I know some people just want the Merzbow tape… and some people probably don’t want it… But I have my reasons for selling tapes in a batch… and I always put up individual copies on BC after the initial batch sales… and I upped the edition size… so let’s just be cool"

Merzbow's relationship with labels seems to be getting weirder and weirder. Im not suggesting it's entirely the case here, but to me it's reasonably obvious when someone has approached Akita because they want bragging rights of having put out a Merzbow album. The Samidara thing from some years ago was strange, they seemed completely out of their depth, then there are those that seem like more of an art project for everybody involved except Akita himself whereby they'll say "I want to do XYZ... You got any spare noise for me?" Either way there seems to be a clear distinction between music for music's sake and 'a commission'.

August brings us new things from slowdown with the release of the 'Drum And Noise' box set, the 13th series continues with albums containing source material that was partially used on the split with Actuary and the collaboration with Full Of Hell.

Room40 have just announced 'Flare Blues' which revisits the Flare Gun and White Blues EPs from 1994, along with some unreleased bonus material from the same era. Its a Vinyl release this time around, also available as a bundle with hoodie and screen print.

Tempted to get the hoodie bundle from Room 40 but £100 in total is a bit too much, will just wait for Boomkat to get the LP.
Aurora Central Records (who did the Door Open At 8 AM re-issue) have said they will be releasing a new Merzbow release soon. They said this -
"We will have a new Merzbow release (first of tape) and then on LP, we'll announce it soon!"

That'll be interesting to hear. I hope it's new in the sense that it's actual newly recorded music from Akita rather than a dive into the 90s.
A forthcoming CD reissue of Solonoise 1 and 2 courtesy of Old Europa Cafe has appeared on the wiki page. I don't doubt that it'll happen at some point but there's no word from the label as yet, could be one to look forward to!

It would seem that both ‘Solonoise’ tapes are included in the ‘Merzbox’, although one track from the second volume is around 14 minutes long, so who knows if it’s the full recording. I’m curious whether the reissue will have the same tracks or if they’ll be longer/different in some way.

Both tapes of Solonoise are fully appearing in the Lowest Music And Arts 1980 - 1983 10 vinyl records sets released by VOD in 2012.

I just received few words about Aurora Central: 'It will be for Merzbeat, reissue on LP and cassette. First it will be the cassette release then the LP because of time in the pressing plants taking forever!'

Oh wow, i never would have seen that one coming although a vinyl/cassette reissue makes sense given the relative popularity that album has. Im sort of surprised they got the rights for it from Important Records though, you'd think it'd be something theyd be up for handling themselves maybe, who knows. I feel a lot of people will be excited for this one

Yeah, that's a really surprising one to pick, as the original CD is so easy to still pick up (and I don't recall it getting great reviews). Kinda hoping for no extra tracks so I can skip this one!

14th slowdown series is on it's way. It comprises of 'double beat sequencer volumes 1-6' all recorded in 2014 exploring those sequenced melodic passages Akita used on albuns like Nezumimochi, Wildwood and Konchuuki.

I think I wait until the 20th series and see if they do another 10x6=60CD boxed set, it's a bit cheaper that way.
