Hello. One month ago appreared on Discogs an edition tape of Merzbow - Live In Vilnius. www.discogs.com/Merzbow-Live-In-Vilnius/release/10702513I managed to order a copy. This was not an easy transaction as everything took more than a month. I received a second hand tape re-used in a yellow envelope with a visual on it. Many bad points all around : - The tape is just sealed in an paper yellow envelope and sent in an other envelope with no more protection. The yellow envelope of my copy did not arrived in good condition. - The tape is just a re-used tape without any visual or inserts in the envelope. Only a small piece of paper with some informations (MERZBOW LIVE IN VILINUS (!) 204 (!) P-MM. BANDCAMP.COM POST MATERIALIZATION MUSIC CASSETTE). Not anything else even on the tape itself. - Sound quality of the tape is very very poor. Even compare with the mp3 file that was already released unofficialy few years ago : daturaporno.blogspot.fr/It is possible to listen to this live as a crunchy ambient music... No more high-pitched sounds at all... If you don't usually enjoy Merzbow because of his piercing sounds, this tape is for you Do not make the same mistake than I did and stay away from this tape available via Discogs and Ebay. It is a crap. Did some others of you ordered a copy ?

I saw this listed on discogs last month - it looked a bit shady, so I checked with Masami first, who confirmed it was completely unofficial bootleg. I didn't buy it - I have enough of a struggle keeping up with the official releases as it is, so I'm not bothering with bootlegs as well!

I don't remember seeing this one on Discogs, might not have gone for it if I had done either since it's a cassette and in odd packaging. There have definitely been some weird anomalies appearing on Discogs, notably laptop artists remixing Merzbow and listing it as if Merzbow had a part to play in it... so that's annoying. The only similar(ish) thing I have is the Merzbow/Wolf Eyes Live Frying CDr thing, which is something John Olson puts together, a CDr in a coloured paper sleeve with some crinkly shredded paper chucked in there. It's awful sound quality too, but basically everything they do outside of the actual album releases exists as little more than a document of ideas and their progress. Hard to call it a bootleg since it comes from one of the band members, but I doubt Akita had a say in it.

Initially, the discogs listing didn't even say 'unofficial', but I'm glad to see it's been updated. It does make me wonder how much (if any) of this label's other releases are 'legit'.
