Just noticed the entire album is now available to stream on bandcamp A few familiar sounds but plenty of variety, first impressions ain't too bad. Could shape up to be a pretty solid album. Interested to hear what others think of this one

It's not too bad. The structure of the album brought to mind Zophorus, with a longer 4th track that is the album highlight. (Well that's definitely the case with Zophorus, here I think probably the same). Sonically Aodron starts off in a compelling manner and it seems as though all the right resources are there for a great album, but the tracks don't tread a huge amount of interesting terrain in themselves. The first arresting moment came in the latter part of track 3. Then track 4 was an enjoyable track albeit stagnating towards the end. Track 5 rather minimal. Some good variety across the album and sonically it seems to hold promise. But probably a 7/10.

Yeah, it definitely sounds promising, im yet to listen from start to finish but have listened to chunks of it. I noticed what (i think) was some extensive use of his junk guitar on some tracks, which is a sound that i've not heard stand out for a while. The arpegiated loops that first appeared on albums like Nezumimochi dont do an awful lot for me, but the way they are incorporated into the tracks seems to work better here, rather than simply being left to run for the entirety. Im also hoping the CD gets some sort of distribution overseas (which apparently theyre working on) the postage costs direct from them are really too expensive.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this album. It's definitely better than the couple Merzbow albums (plus last year's Masami Akita picture LP) from the last few years that I've heard. I agree it's not earth-shattering, but it's a solid album with some interesting and unusual moments in tracks 4 and 5 (I believe synths are the sound sources). And I love those physical "junk" sounds that I think start off track 3, even if I've heard them extensively on other Merzbow albums. The cover (on my computer screen at least) looks pretty good too.

Got a CD copy from a seller on Discogs. Having now listened to the album in its entirety, I think it's one of the best Merzbow albums in some time. Definitely full of interesting new ideas and standout moments, notably the latter part of track 3 where things get choppy. Plenty of sounds we've heard before too, but perhaps crafted and executed more successfully than before. I thought the final track was especially impressive too with (what i think is) a synthesizer part that almost sounds orchestral weaving about beneath some intense feedback and clattering junk sounds. The whole track to me has an underlying dark ambient/industrial vibe that sounds really moody and creepy. From first seeing the artwork, I was excited to hear this album, and I'm glad to say it definitely lives up to my expectations.
