I know I sound like a skipped record (ho ho!) , but another goddamn vinyl-only release = huge price + even more expensive shipping, which puts me off what would otherwise be an automatic purchase. Wish there was a CD option as well. Looks like it will be about £35 to get it in the UK, which is outside my budget for one album.

The only reason I'm getting this and vinyl releases in general is because the Italian distributor Soundohm (which carries a very wide range of music) offers free registered shipping worldwide above a certain amount. So I keep reserving items with them until I reach that amount (actually, I always end up going way beyond it). Otherwise I also wouldn't be able to afford vinyl releases due to the punishing shipping cost. As for vinyl, I wonder when the hype will fade and what will come afterwards. I have no problems with the medium itself, but CDs are still better in my view.

I got this today and just finished listening to it. Being a very early release (recorded in 1980), it sounds very much like an experiment about what kinds of sounds can be made with various sources, for example an acoustic guitar or pots and pans in the kitchen. You get the occasional tape loop and speech samples (in Japanese, I believe) too. While not everything here is good in a musical sense, it's always interesting as you get a glimpse into someone exploring sound at home. It has a very "private" feel to it. It's also quite bizarre, one more reason to like it! 😊 The foldout packaging with the collages is nice and suits the music well. The pressing quality of the records is also great. If you have a turntable and can afford to buy this release, and you like early Merzbow, don't miss it!
