Post pictures of your Merzbow collection and discuss it, this includes cds, records, cassettes, shirts, posters, apparel, etc. I only started collecting Merzbow about 8 months ago, my collection is surely small compared to some others here but I like it alot: The one that doesn't have the artwork is Masami Akita- The Prosperity of Vice, the Misfortune of Virtue, it was inside the Merzbird case as an unexpected free bonus when I bought it. The white one is not a Merzbow cd but the Melt compilation that has a Merzbow song on. The Animal magnetism one is sadly just the case and sleeve, the seller sent me a smashing pumpkins cd inside the merzbow case, at least they refunded me for it and let me keep the sleeve. The Lop lop is the 2 cd limited edition, but it's missing the pendant and the sticker as I bought it used, it has the postcard though, it only cost me $9 including shipping so I don't care too much. Still have alot of Merzbow left to try and collect, but I think its a pretty good start so far.

Good idea! A dumb question first though: how do you insert a picture into the message box? Do you add it as an attachment or in a different way?

Good idea! A dumb question first though: how do you insert a picture into the message box? Do you add it as an attachment or in a different way? when you post a reply, not a quick reply from the box at the bottom of the page of every thread but pressing the button to post a reply, you'll see that its more detailed with buttons and stuff. You'll see a button to add youtube videos, put block quotes (looks like an arrow pointing to the right), then a button to add hyperlinks to other pages, then finally there's a button that has a picture in it. Thats the "insert image" button which you need to press. Then you only need to press it, add the link in between the code that appeared and press submit to your post. If thats too hard just copy the link on the reply, then drag it all with your mouse then press the "Insert Image" button and the code will appear outside the link you added.

diablocountach5: That's a pretty nice little collection though, some of my own favourites in there I just tried laying the whole lot of my 'Merzjunk' out on my bed, but failed miserably due to extreme lack of space so this'll have to do... probably not that easy to tell which particular albums a lot of the CDs are. I don't think any of my collection is especially rare/valuable. The cassette and the Dead Leaves box are both limited to 100 copies, but as far as I know they're not really that sought after. Pretty fond of all this stuff, even with this lot there's still a long way to go lol.

Bucketfel, thanks for the explanation. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. Nice collections so far! Andypandy380, that's a serious Melvins collection there! Which Merzbow cassette do you have? And what's the box below it? And is that a 3" CD below the box?

Haha yeah, I'm a bit of a Melvins die-hard The cassette is Gman//HJYUGTF2 which came out last year. The box is Kibako and yeah, it's the Mini Cycle 3" CD

I wish I'd gotten that tape. Is it good? I decided to buy tapes way after it was sold out (I missed the reissues on Blossoming Noise for the same reason).

It is actually pretty good yeah. It features drums a bit like 'Don't Steal My Coat', very frantic, they sound more like fireworks going off. Quite choppy, some strange instrumentation, maybe guitars? lots of synthy sounds. I like it a lot.

Bucketfel, I hope you can help me: I've made the pictures and saved them on my computer. How do I paste them here? I'm not quite sure what "link" means in your previous post -- am I supposed to upload the pictures to a storage site on the net first? Thanks!

Bucketfel, I hope you can help me: I've made the pictures and saved them on my computer. How do I paste them here? I'm not quite sure what "link" means in your previous post -- am I supposed to upload the pictures to a storage site on the net first? Thanks! If you want the pictures to be seen on your post you should upload them somewhere and post the link here using the instructions i gave before. If you dont want them shown but want people to access them, you can upload them here as an attachment and post it. People will be able to download it onto their own computers and see it that way. There is a limit to the size of the file so be careful if you upload it here as it might be larger than the capacity of the forum. Id suggest uploading it onto facebook or something similar then posting the link of the picture here.

Niiice, quite a few real gems in there! Is that the special edition version of Hole? What's the bright yellow/green CD without a case? I've been wondering about those releases in the large card cases for a while (Antimonument and Magnesia Nova) will probably try and track those down at some point. What's the bright pink one? I don't recognize it. The group of LPs you have are quite weird and wonderful Not all that familiar with most of them myself. 2 or 3 of them I've not even heard of before. I noticed you have releases from Merzbow/Null, Bustmonster etc. Are they worth checking out? That list of bands/collaborations has intrigued me for a long time, but I'm only just beginning to make sense of it. (sorry I know that's a whole lot of questions)

No probs about the questions, feel free to ask! Yes, that's the special edition of Hole. I think the difference between it and the normal version is that it's wrapped in that pink foil and there are a few extra inserts. The bright green CD is the first MAZK album (SPL). The round green card was actually underneath the CD in the jewel case (and there's no booklet or front cover) but I've replaced my jewel cases with space-saving CD sleeves and I've put that card at the front. The CD to the left of Magnesia Nova is the split with Aural Torture Mechanism. One of the best Merz I know! ATM is forgettable though. The LP to the left of Collection 009 is in a protective sleeve so maybe that's why you can't recognize it. It's Kibbutz which is otherwise on white vinyl and in a clear plastic sleeve. Feel free to ask about the other unrecognised ones. If it helps, Soft is a split with Kadef and Live Deformation/Holland is a split with THU20. I'll have to listen to Merzbow/Null again before saying anything about it. I don't recommend the Bustmonster/Xper.Xr split 7" though unless you can get it real cheap: it's more of a joke, a tribute to Whitehouse and both acts are pretty silly. There is a proper Bustmonster 7" which I don't have and which is pretty expensive to get. I'd like to hear that (perhaps it's a more serious affair) but haven't seen it for a sensible price yet. The True Romance LP is very different from Merzbow and quite surprising. I only recently got it and will post a review here once I'm more familiar with it.

It's amazing, each time I read something about Merzbow I seem to find more albums I never knew existed lol I think wading through some of the bands and collaborative stuff might be my next task. I thought at first the 'soft' record was the Kibbutz re-release, I've not seen that before. Nice collection

Thanks! I have about 15 more items (CDs and vinyl) at my parents' house in a different country, so those aren't on the pictures. I find that going through Wikipedia's Merzbow discography often yields new discoveries. It's a very well organised list and together with Discogs, the most complete database I know of.

cool I realized earlier that I left a few things out of my pictures too (ZaRa 10" and the promo version of Timehunter) The Wikipedia discography is very good indeed, I think Bucketfel organized some of it. I go back and forth between that and the Discogs page quite regularly.

nice, you managed to get a Psychorazer? There's a handful of those 90's releases that seem near impossible to find sometimes. I'm on a mission to find a copy of Vibractance, that album is just so weird that I'd love to have a copy of it. Music For Bondage Performance parts 1 and 2 appeared on discogs at really quite a reasonable price the other day, so grabbed those while I saw them. But Psychorazer is a nice find! That's another LP that I don't recognize, I should do my research

Don't ask how much I paid for Psychorazer, I'd like to forget about it completely... I don't know if you've heard it: the final track is fantastic and quite unlike other Merzbow; very electroacoustic. Vibractance is for sale on Ebay at the moment, and for a reasonable price (for now anyway)! I just saw it before I logged in to this forum. I love that album and it's such a shame it's in my parents' house (in another country) as I'd love to hear it on my newish hi-fi. I have Music for Bondage Performance but I wasn't that crazy about it the last time I listened to it. It wasn't bad by any means, but I remembered it being better. I'm looking for volume 2 myself but it's usually too expensive. That LP is a split with The Haters. It's a tribute to M.B. and as such, Merzbow sounds very much like early 80s M.B.

Whoa... there's talk about Vibractance. I can't think of it as a Merzbow album, it's atypical and I don't think in a good way. An old friend found it at Amoeba Records and gave it to me as a present... at the time when I was probably most excited about Merzbow and acquiring albums........ and despite these two factors, after listening to the album I couldn't help but feel disappointed in a way that I haven't with any other Merzbow album, particularly given the time it was recorded and considering all of the great albums surrounding it from 1998. In hindsight (and given the albums since) it feels like a mistake he didn't want to repeat.

haha yeah. That is true that Vibractance is a one-off and atypical. I haven't listened to it since I was in the early stages of becoming a Merzbow fan, very unsure of his music as a whole. So I can't really justify saying whether I think it's a good album or not musically. Perhaps my reasoning for wanting a copy is the same as the way I feel about owning a copy of ET on Atari 2600, "it's so bad it's good", but that's probably a stupid statement. I dunno, I've just always been intrigued by that album. There are a whole load of generally favourable reviews of it across the net.

Vibractance was one of the very first Merzbow releases I got (direct from the label, when sending well-hidden cash in envelopes was still the order of the day). I must've heard no more than 7-8 Merzbow CDs at that time. I loved it then and I love it now but I can understand if someone doesn't like it. Each to their own, I guess.

Very nice collections everyone, here is my recent merzbow purchases: I ordered Music for Bondage performance and Merzbeat from a discogs seller, they sent me Music for Bondage performance 2 instead of Music for Bondage performance 1, I told them that and they let me keep Merzbeat and Music for Bondage performance 2 for free, minus the shipping cost, so it only cost $3 for both.

Here's some more bits and pieces I picked up recently. The 'Music For Bondage Performance' albums have really surprised me, never gave them much attention until I picked them up recently. They are both really quite playful albums, a very enjoyable listening experience. I'm pretty fond of Jigokuhen as well, definitely one of the better albums from the more recent bunch of releases. After a few spins of the Merzbannon LP, I've decided I'm not especially keen on it. Far be it from me to accuse Merzbow of doing a lazy job, but it could have been so much more than the same drum loop for 20 minutes. I do have it to thank for introducing me to Racebannon though, those guys make some of the most delightfully twisted music I've ever heard. Another question for you guys...What is 'Flare Gun' like? It pops up now and then, I don't really know anything about it

Flare Gun is one of his most popular releases, it has the 5th most ratings of any Merzbow album on rateyourmusic, right after 1930, Pulse demon, Venereology, and Merzbeat. I've read alot of people think Flare gun pt 3 is his best song, it's one of the best albums I've heard from him so far, very chaotic and harsh, Bara does some crazy vocals on pt 3, pretty much essential.

Recent Merzbow purchases: The first 5 were from rockawayrecords on amazon who had some merzbow cds for a low price, the shipping cost was $20!, but they gave a $10 shipping refund. The last of analog sessions still has the patch and Hybrid noisebloom and tentacle have the obi strips. They came in resealable plastic sleeves too. The PGR, Merzbow & Asmus Tietchens was off ebay for $.99 cents+ shipping.

What's the CD without a cover? Hybrid Noisebloom is a good one, mine has the obi strip too, I think Rainbow Electronics 2 is the only other CD I have that has one. I've not managed to track down Tentacle yet. That cover always intrigued me though, not sure what the idea is/what it is supposed to represent. Looks like it's printed with shiny metallic ink, but it's not is it?
