It seems we now have our first official solo release of the year. "Gman//HJYUGTF2" is a brand new cassette from the label Midnight Sea Records limited to only 100 copies. Its also very cheap in my opinion, you should check it out. If you are still not convinced about it may i remind you that a sample mix from this release was already posted by Merzbow himself a couple of months back. Here is the sample mix of "Gman". soundcloud.com/merzbow/gmanHere is the label's site: midnightsearecords.blogspot.ca/On a different note, does anyone see a resemblance on the cover of this album and Uzu Me Ku?? To me they seem to be taken from the same building. ;D

I've looked at grabbing a copy of this, been thinking of grabbing some merzbow cassettes for a while, this seems like as good a place as any to start. Price including overseas shipping is $9.50

Some 6 weeks later, my copy has arrived... yeah a long wait, but I just listened to it back to back and its great! a return to the drumming but it doesn't get relentless or, dare I say it, annoying like I thought it sometimes did on 13 japanese birds... here it sounds quite erratic like fireworks going off or something. even though the drums are quite mental, they're used quite sparingly, theres a lot of cool stuff going on otherwise. on the second half it breaks down into some really fascinating sounds and gets almost musical at one point, does definately sound like each sound has been carefully handpicked... its one of those choppy kind of albums, not one of those "BRRRRRRRZZZHZHZHGGHHHH" wall of noise albums.... i really like it

yeah, it does seem fairly brief compared to some releases, theres as much variety crammed in there though, and to a degree i think i prefer that it doesnt go on and on for like 70 minutes. i think the initial 100 or so copies sold out, not sure though, theres probably some floating about on discogs but it's gonna be a bit of a lost gem i think...
