I just saw on wikipedia someone posted this new release but the page is still empty so i decided to start doing some research on it only to find almost nothing. All i was able to find was one page in japanese that google helped me translate. So far this is what its about: Merzphysics is a new 10 CD box set to be released through the very unknown label Youth Inc. The set consists of unreleased recordings from 1994. Accorsing to the japanese site who seels this, the set is like a "sequel" to Merzbient. The set is scheduled to be released on April 25th. www.youth-inc.co.jp/contents/youth-163/Overseas Shipping is made exclusively through Merzbow's site: merzbow.net/merzphysics_mailorder.html

im now more interested to see the artwork and if hes just releasing the box as it is or is he going to make it fancy like Merzbient. EDIT: Also seems a bit pricey. On the only site with info where they sell the set its 10,500 yen. I used a converter and its arround 130 american dollars. Thats a lot of money and im assuming that for that ammount we are not only getting the CDs but the usual Merzbow experience of a box set. Here is the site where i have been able to find info. (its in japanese but google translator can be of some use here) www.clinck.co.jp/merurido/dtl.php?ky=YOUTH163

Yeeeah, 130 is a lot for me right now. Like, almost a whole paycheck a lot. Although I do appreciate some of his work from my era, I don't prefer it either. I still have yet to give Merzbient a second chance, I kind of stopped listening after the second-third disc.

As far as ive seen, Merzbient has been very well recieved (critically speaking) and financially. As far as i remember Soleilmoon has the box set sold out. You can still get it through other labels (if you are lucky), not even amazon sells it anymore. I do wonder if this new box set will affect the planned reissue of Merzbient on 15+ LPs

Ive been trying to find more info for you guys but the label is incredibly hard to find. On the other side, this couple of days there has been a proliferation of japanese stores selling this box set (sadly all at the same price) but all pages do not have any new information.
I think ive mannaged to come across the real label selling the box set although no info shows up there but its more likely in my oppinion since the store number from our box set is "YOUTH 163" and this label's latest release is near than number and it starts with"YOUTH" in their code. Sadly, i dont think mailing them will be a choice since they speak japanese and i know nothing about that.
I tried regardless.

The tracklisting is kind of similar to Merzbient's, with 1-2 tracks per disc thanks for the info

this looks like it could be a pretty good release all from 93&94 hopefully its in the vein of Venereology & Metalvelodrome that would be intense!

Merzbow posted on his blog recently. Aparently overseas shipping is not possible through youth inc and that those who want to buy this overseas will be able to through Merzbow's site.
Neat

Hello back, guys. Im very curious about this one, but what im really curious is the ZSF Produkt Era 18LP+7''. As I think its will be impossible to find in digital format I should get it and rip it, but seems to be no chance to subscribe for the special edition of bonus 7" and T-Shirt... We will see, until I have even less work and I have daily financial problems, I can't spend money for these extras.

Merzbient will be reissued on 18LPs and another box set called Lowest Music & Arts 1980–1983 which is 10LPs plus a book and a special 7" and shirt of their subscribers. Im not entirely sure how that works and if the 7" is even Merzbow or just some other artist from the label.

merzphysics arrived, can't add much to whats already out there on the photo front, simple packaging cd printing reminds me of merzbox but has the numbers printed on them for easy find! nice silver cardboard slip around, i like, now for the important stuff the sound, i'm up to cd8 as of this morning and really liking this release, great consistent noise and keeping me hooked all the time! got a harshness that i don't seam to get from the digital era maybe because of more feedback makes your ears ring, there seams to be a trend of a gradual build up of intensity of each track, heaps of loops feedback grinding rumble more layers of feedback think i even heard birds chirping on one track, i tend to burn out when listening to constant noise cd's after about 4 or 5 cd's worth but this has got me wanting more, i'll be keen to dig out some earlier release to compare as its been awhile, i'd like to think this is the era which gives him the title 'the king of noise' really on his game, this is an impressive release, anybody else heard it agree?

I've heard the first 2 CDs so far and I also like them very much. For the fact that I don't really care for harsh noise any more (for example stuff by John Wiese, whose music is supposed to be great, leaves me cold), I really enjoyed these 2 discs. There's enough variation even within the narrow constraints such a style has (there are no synths or musical instruments, just noise electronics) that the music stays interesting. I might be biased but that's what I think. I hope the other 8 CDs will be of the same quality!

what do you mean bucketfel?? Posted by Bucketfel on 10th May, 2012 at 12:17pm I find the change of context of this recordings to be quite odd if you look at the recordings from the 80's you can see a lot of pornography associated with early releases (mostly first half of the 80's) this doesnt appear on the archive recordings being published recently. Its just that the recordings were made under those constrains i think and being released on a different time with a different set of artwork kind of changes the meaning. That bing said i could be totally wrong ;D

this set is great, i highly recommend it. about the art change - i like it. gives merzbow a rightful futuristic feel very appropriate for 2012 and beyond.
