There have been heaps of re-issues over the past few years, so it seems that pretty much anything has a fair crack at emerging from obscurity. That being so, if you could only choose one album, which Merzbow release would you most want a re-issue of? I'm guessing something mega obscure and almost impossible to currently get hold of, but is there anything in particular that people are desperate for?

Choosing only one album is tough, but for me it might be the collab LP with Richard Ramirez, "The Science of Dissecting Society" (with the original artwork). That said, if I could pick other items too, I'd love to see "Metal Mad Man", the collab tape with S-Core, the Merzbow/Haters/AMK "Sniper" tape and the "Wakantanka" 7" reissued (the latter one wouldn't happen as a 7" again for sure, but I could imagine it being reissued on a CD compiling 7"s).

I think I'd probably plump for 'Psychorazer' myself - never seen a physical copy at a vaguely reasonable price. Hopefully some enterprising label is reading this thread!

'Aka Meme' is the one I would love to find (original or as a new reissue) .

I'd second a lot of those comments. If I had to pick just one, reckon I'd go with Metal Mad Man too, just because I've not ever heard it and it seems like an odd Cassette anomaly to have come out when it did. A singles compilation would be great too, some of those 7"s are real hidden gems, I'm actually surprised there aren't more compilations of odds and ends in the style of 'Another Merzbow Records'. One release I would like to see as a standalone reissue is 'Mechanization Takes Command'. It's included in the Merzbox and I always liked the album along with that nasty looking bright yellow cover art, just feels like it deserves more.

One release I would like to see as a standalone reissue is 'Mechanization Takes Command'. It's included in the Merzbox and I always liked the album along with that nasty looking bright yellow cover art, just feels like it deserves more. You can also find 'Mechanization Takes Command' in the beautiful compilation LP boxset 'Merzbow – Lowest Music & Arts 1980 - 1983' (Vinyl-on-demand – VOD108, 2012). Superb object fillfull with great music. I highly do prefer the mastering on this boxset than the one for the Merzbox. In my opinion all the 80's tracks in the Merzbox were too much pushed into limiter. They sound much better in there newest reissues on CD or LP (for the ones available) than the Merzbox' versions. I really do not like so much the 80's area inside the Merzbox but it is not because of the music. It seems Merzbow did the masters of them the same way he did for the 90's records in this same Merzbox. But the music is very different... Thankfully reissues from the 80's pop-up from times to times with far better master work

I'm going to pick another one, something more recent - 'Merzbuddha Variations'. Japan only cassette, limited to 100 copies. Currently one for sale on Discogs at £85. Yikes. Missed this when it came out in 2012, and never seen one going for a decent price in the years since.
