WattleMasami Akita 1. Wattle 1 2. Wattle 2 Masami Akita is releasing a new LP under his own name titled "Wattle". This is Elevator Bath's last LP on their series of picture discs (each record being adorned with full-color artwork by the recording artist). The LP has been released in an edition of 270 copies and every copy purchased directly from Elevator Bath will include a download code for high quality files of the entire audio content of this LP. According to the label, Wattle is a new, two-part composition featuring Akita's traditional soup of unidentifiable metallic clanging, crushing feedback, jagged white noise, and various effects. It does not disappoint. There are no drums, no guitars, no vocals; just scorching electronic mayhem of the highest quality. They posted a link to a good sample from "Wattle 2", here is the link.As for the artwork, it seems to be based on photographs shot and subtly manipulated by Masami himself. As expected, Masami embedded his well known veganism and pro-animal lifestyle into the release. He includes the following statement in regards to the LP: "Turkey is beautiful animal and do not eat them." -Masami Akita The album ships at the end of March, and you can purchase it here: elevatorbath.com/eeaoa038.html

I wonder if musically it will be somewhat different than Merzbow, seeing that it's released under Akita's own name. The first part of the sample is indeed somewhat different (and is really good).

You can listen to the album here: elevatorbath.bandcamp.com/album/wattleJudging by one listen, it's a routine album with few interesting parts. It sounds like Merzbow, so I have no idea why it's under Akita's name. Both pieces are full-on blasts, with only the beginning of the second track being different, kind of electroacoustic/musique concrete.

Haven't listened, but I'm intrigued. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having it just to put on the wall... I like the look.

I have listened to this (its on spotify if anybody wants to know) and to me its quite a lot harsher than harsh Merzbow. Maybe thats why it was under his own name. But thats just my opinion.
