I still look.... nothing else to go off really (aside from his facebook page). Just coincidence I decided to check today. Thank goodness, first single CD Merzbow album since goodness knows what, Takahe Collage?! Yep, first single CD album in over 2 years. What happened to the Essence Music boxset supposedly out earlier this year? (I emailed them to ask a couple of months ago, no reply). Will the drought end?

Yeah, there aren't too many places to find out any news, the facebook page seems to make announcements about two months behind the actual release. I check the 'forthcoming' section of the wikipedia page now and again. really glad to see this one, I think a lot of people have been crying out for just a CD release, I certainly have. Had high hopes for that Essence CD/Boxset, but I am beginning to wonder if it'll ever see the light of day, every time I have a look at their page the release date has been pushed back. I think it was originally planned for an October release last year?

Site will remain up for as long as it can. People like you make a site come to life, so keep posting and hopefully people will come and have cool discussions =)
The cover looks quite cool. I wonder why hasn't he released much (if any) solo albums recently

Wasn't expecting this for a couple of weeks or more, but strangely enough it arrived today. Sonically, some of it isn't so different to last year's Nezumimochi, but first impressions made me think back to the minazo albums... I felt much of it had a similar vibe to those. It's not the easiest on the ears, felt it was a tad harsher than some of his recent work.

Pre-ordered it direct from Dirter Promotions. Doesn't look like any distros have them in stock for 2 or 3 weeks yet. Yeah man, been looking forward to that one too!

Thanks for the update andypandy. 'Harsher' sounds good, maybe more feedback sounds then, or possibly something about the mix. When you say it's sonically like Nezumimochi, is there a prevalence of little loops and therefore a distinctive rhythmic quality like on that recording?

The first track in particular is very much a Nezumimochi one. Has exactly the same style of loop with waves of feedback on top. There's a bit more variety among the rest of the album though, mostly long passages of feedback rather than beats/loops. One track has some of that crazy 'crying' synthesizer much like the opening to Kamadhenu. I'm still listening to it on and off, haven't really come to a solid opinion of it just yet, but there are a mix of sounds from other recent albums in there.

Have listened a few times now. Not too bad, not too special though, rather monochromatic, particularly track 3. Track 2 is the highlight for me, nothing pokes out too much from the mix of the continuous noisy whoosh that characterises it, aside from the wailing synth sounds at the start, which become eclipsed by the main whoosh. But there is enough detail and variety in there to keep it interesting. Track 1 is pleasant enough, yep, rather like Nezumimochi. Track 4 doesn't have much discernibly to do with guitars, despite its title. Synth bubbles emerge in the latter half and add variety, but aren't varied that much, more of an emerging strand in the texture. Rather restrained in terms of textural change and not that rhythmically pronounced, more of a continuous stream of noisy as opposed to particularly colourful sound.

No idea if it's genuine, but according to Wikipedia there is going to be a sequel 'Wildwood 2' on LP by Dirter. Haven't been able to find any more info on it yet.
