It's awfully quiet around here these days...
Does anyone own/has anyone seen the 2 split/collab CDs with Struggle For Pride? How about Blues Maggots?
I've never ever seen the former 2 for sale anywhere (they're not even listed on Discogs) and I'm not even sure of the existence of Blues Maggots.

I noticed Blues Maggots is available for download at Boomkat, which always seems like quite a reputable seller, but I have my doubts about it too, never seen a physical copy anywhere or any solid evidence that it actually exists. I've not heard about the splits before.
It sure does seem quiet in general really, loads of stuff announced but not a lot of progress...

Did anyone find out more about these? I've just stumbled across copies of the Struggle For Pride split CDs which appear to be for sale on Japanese Amazon... it's the only place I've ever seen it. www.amazon.co.jp/Split-Ver-1-0-MERZBOW-STRUGGLE-PRIDE/dp/B00005L9H8/ref=sr_1_50?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1416072090&sr=1-50&keywords=merzbowI was just taking the plunge and trying to buy one, just to see what happened really, but the seller is unable to ship them outside of Japan which is a bit of a shame... Regarding Blues Maggots, I'm still pretty stumped about it... There seem to be countless places to download it from, itunes, amazon etc... but that original CDr remains a bit of a myth, I've even read a comment on a forum where a guy says he thought he remembered it being an LP, but who knows. I don't even know if that's the original artwork for it, or whether it's something that was put together for the digital release (which seems kind of likely) The way I see it, it could have just been something Akita made in the late 90s that got passed around to friends/colleagues via CDr and never had any sort of a release until the digital one in (i think) 2010... Quite interesting musically though, very jittery and varied in style, sort of like a more digital sounding 1930, sounds like there could have been a lot of tweeking and remastering prior to the digital release... bah I don't know lol Any thoughts?

A friend of mine used to order a lot of CDs from the Japanese Amazon, but a while ago almost all their sellers stopped shipping outside of Japan... It's pretty weird. Last year or so I bought a bunch of Merzbow from one of the guys behind Napalmed, a Czech noise band, and he had one of these splits with Struggle for Pride. Of course, he was selling it really expensive, and since I was already buying heaps from him and spending a lot of money, eventually I didn't buy it. It also helped, to be honest, that I'd downloaded one of them and it was terrible... Of course, it might sound better/different on CD, but it was so expensive that I didn't buy it. I think the seller is called Napalmed on Discogs, so you can ask him if he still has that CD if you're interested. By the way, somewhere I read Akita didn't like these two CDs and the label didn't even bother sending him artist copies. I still don't know if Blues Maggots exists at all... I might download it though. I've also noticed you can download it legally (I think I saw it on Boomkat) but whether it really exists as an actual physical release, I have no idea. I would even have doubted it was genuine Merzbow, but if you've heard it and reckon it is, then at least that seems to be settled .

I've noticed the Napalmed seller on Discogs before, did wonder a few times whether getting a job lot of things from him was worth it, but never went ahead with it. Have you got/heard the 'Crash Of The Titans' CD? I remember thinking the Merzbow stuff was pretty good, and kind of similar to the harsh 90s. Not really listened to the Napalmed tracks as I just ripped the Merzbow ones straight to Itunes, they're a band I don't know a great deal about.
I ended up getting Blues Maggots from Boomkat, probably could have found it for free but seemed like as good a place as any. Must admit I still have my doubts about it, regarding whether it's genuine or not. I think it probably is, but where people have expressed doubts about it before, I find myself analysing it thinking "is that the sort of thing Merzbow would do?" It sounds typically Merzbow, other than the strange lead guitar part towards the end... Some of it sounds quite calculated, but considering albums like 'Door open...' that came out around the same time, I'm not so sure that's too unusual really.

I've heard the Merzbow/Napalmed split CD, although I don't have it. I remember quite liking it. I also know another CD by Napalmed. On both they play pretty full-on noise with junk metal sounds. I'll probably download Blues Maggots from Boomkat too. It's quite an unusual situation to listen to something trying to guess whether it could be Merzbow or not.
