$30 is a bit steep for them... I guess it's due at least partly to the packaging. I might give these a miss due to the price tag and since they're live albums. Curious to hear what others will think about them though.

Cool, thanks for the info!
I've watched (partly) the video for Kookaburra and I think this is awesome! This must be the first film-recording of Merzbow in HD quality ever. The video is very aesthetic, but it is still objectively and has documentary qualities. The filmmakers have done a great job here.

I watched both through earlier, and was quite impressed too, on the whole. I think it's all it needed to be, simply an observation of them doing what they do. There were a few little annoyances for me though, the same shots of overhead lights and rope going in/out of focus... The artsy stuff with the gadgets/pedals was cool at first but I think it outstayed its welcome. But I agree with you, the production quality was excellent otherwise. I found both quite challenging listening, don't really know why... and I think I spent too much time trying to figure out what gadgets made what differences to the sound. It was hard to tell exactly what Oren Ambarchi was doing, and what part of the sound was his, but I think I enjoyed that video a little more than Kookaburra. Both videos had very cool moments in them where the noise took odd twists and turns. Still very much looking forward to getting the CDs, they've been dispatched but it's Christmas, so who knows when they'll arrive.
